Financial Leadership at Unilever

Jim Lawrence, former CFO of General Mills who joined Unilever as CFO in September 2007, will discuss Unilever´s growth strategy, and how the company is transforming its business model to improve execution and better leverage scale in its global operations. Since his arrival at the world´s third largest fast moving consumer goods company - maker of Ben & Jerry´s ice cream, Dove shower gel and Omo fabric cleaners - Mr Lawrence has led the Finance team in redefining its role towards 'partners in value creation' by moving to a flexible budgeting process, by embracing innovative ways for business partnering to support innovation and get a better return on brand investments, and by promoting financial flexibility. In the current turbulent economic times, these new capabilities are serving the company well as it aims to boost volumes while protecting cash and margins.
